Payson, located in the center of Arizona below the Mogollan Rim, offers a cool and comfortable climate year-round. Not only is the city one of the oldest communities in the state, but it has the largest known forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

The Tonto National Forest near Payson has almost 900 miles of groomed trails. Many of these trails are open to those on horseback. The challenge varies depending on the trail, but equestrians will find that there are trails to suit all riding ability levels.
